By Darren Leppard, Head of Revenue and Operations, Autotech Recruit
As Autotech Recruit prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary this December, it provides an opportunity to reflect on how far the company has come and how its long-standing commitment to quality and compliance continues to shape its success today.

Originally founded in 2010, Autotech Recruit was established to close the automotive aftermarket’s growing skills gap and revolutionise how the sector approaches recruitment. At that time, introducing the concept of freelance or temporary vehicle technicians and MOT testers was entirely new to the industry, but the founders recognised that the sector needed flexibility and expertise to address skills shortages and operational challenges.
Over time, as the business grew and diversified, Autotech Group was formed to bring together four specialist brands, Autotech Recruit, Autotech Training, Autotech Academy, and Autotech Connect, each created over the intervening years while sharing that same original ethos of quality, integrity, and professionalism.
Fifteen years on, the model Autotech Recruit pioneered has become an industry standard, with many others now replicating the approach first introduced in 2010. While imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, Autotech Recruit’s unwavering commitment to trust, compliance, quality, reliability, and transparency continues to set it apart – values that have underpinned its success from the very beginning.
From its earliest days, quality has been central to everything Autotech Recruit does. That commitment was awarded earlier this year through the company’s achievement of ISO 9001 certification, the internationally recognised standard for quality management systems.
Following a successful Stage 2 audit, this accreditation confirms a structured, consistent, and continually improving approach to how the business operates. The company believes it is the only organisation within the automotive recruitment sector to hold ISO 9001 certification – a distinction that underscores its determination to lead by example.

Building on this foundation, Autotech Group is now working towards achieving ISO 27001, the internationally recognised standard for information security management. This next step further demonstrates the company’s commitment to protecting data, maintaining integrity across its systems, and operating to the highest professional standards.
This achievement serves as formal recognition of a culture that has been embedded within the business for more than 15 years, one where quality underpins every process, decision, and interaction, from internal systems to client experience. Over recent years, this focus has been strengthened through dedicated leadership in quality management, ensuring that standards are continuously upheld through rigorous internal auditing, contract compliance, and proactive monitoring of evolving legislative and regulatory requirements.
In recruitment, especially within a technical and safety-critical industry such as automotive, compliance is non-negotiable. For clients, it represents more than simply meeting legal requirements; it provides confidence that every contractor who enters their business is fully qualified, up to date, and compliant with all DVSA and regulatory standards.
At Autotech Recruit, compliance processes are thorough, transparent, and supported by secure digital systems. Every contractor is rigorously vetted, with checks on proof of right to work via IDVT technology, qualifications, driving licences, and annual MOT training records where applicable. All compliance information is securely stored and easily accessible online to both clients and contractors, providing real-time assurance that every placement meets all legislative and DVSA obligations.
Compliance extends beyond basic requirements. It is a shared responsibility that relies on collaboration between agencies, clients, and contractors. Staying informed about changing employment laws, maintaining reliable systems to track documentation, and supporting candidates through the process all contribute to a culture of integrity and accountability.
Ultimately, compliance reflects professionalism, care, and respect – values that have defined Autotech Recruit since day one and continue to underpin its operations today.
Autotech Recruit’s greatest strength has always been its people. From internal teams to a nationwide network of contractors, every individual plays a role in upholding the company’s reputation for quality and reliability.
To promote consistency and professionalism across its contractor network, Autotech Recruit introduced the Autotech Contractor Charter, a code of conduct that sets out clear expectations, responsibilities, and best practices. The Charter ensures competence, encourages continuous improvement, and reinforces the high standards that clients associate with the Autotech name.
By investing in people through training, support, and open communication, Autotech Recruit enhances performance and retention while strengthening the reputation of its clients and the wider automotive industry.
From its beginnings as Autotech Recruit to the diverse Autotech Group it has become today, one principle has remained constant: quality and compliance are not optional – they are essential.
By maintaining transparency, upholding ethical recruitment practices, and continually raising the bar for itself and for the industry, Autotech Recruit protects its clients, empowers its people, and leads with integrity.
As the business marks its 15th year, its focus remains clear: to continue setting the standard for excellence. Not because it is easy, but because it is the right thing to do.
