This week, Autotech Group CEO Simon King joined an invited group of senior business leaders from across the UK economy at 10 Downing Street as the company became one of the first organisations to sign the Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge.

Among the first cohort of signatories, Autotech Group was the only business from the automotive sector, recognising the company’s long-standing commitment to governance, quality and information security while highlighting the increasing importance of cyber resilience across an increasingly connected industry.

While the launch marked an important milestone, becoming one of the first organisations to sign the Pledge was not the start of a new journey. Instead, it reflects an approach that has been embedded across Autotech Group for a number of years.

As the automotive and wider mobility sectors continue to embrace digital technologies, cyber resilience has become an increasingly important business priority. From connected vehicles and cloud-based workshop management systems to recruitment platforms, digital training and increasingly integrated supply chains, organisations are managing greater volumes of sensitive information than ever before.

At the same time, advances in artificial intelligence are increasing both the scale and sophistication of cyber threats, making robust governance and information security fundamental to maintaining customer trust and operational resilience.

Long before the launch of the Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge, Autotech Group had already invested in strengthening its governance, quality and information security framework. Achieving ISO 9001, ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials Plus was never about collecting certifications; it was about embedding robust management systems, governance and processes that provide customers with confidence that quality, information security and continual improvement are part of the way the business operates every day.

Signing the Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge is a natural extension of that long-term commitment. Developed by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT) and the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), the Pledge encourages organisations to make cyber security a board-level responsibility, strengthen supply chain resilience and adopt practical measures to improve resilience against evolving cyber threats.

Commenting on the company’s commitment, Simon King, CEO of Autotech Group, said: “As a company that works with major automotive organisations, as well as businesses across the wider mobility sector, we understand that trust is built on how well we protect the information, systems and people our customers rely on every day.

“That’s why we’ve embedded security and governance into the way we operate as a business. Becoming one of the first signatories to the Government’s Cyber Resilience Pledge is a natural next step, reinforcing our commitment to keeping cyber resilience at the heart of our business as the automotive sector becomes increasingly connected.”

For customers, the significance of the Cyber Resilience Pledge extends beyond a public commitment. It reflects Autotech Group’s long-standing approach to quality, governance and information security, providing confidence that the systems, processes and standards underpinning the business continue to evolve alongside the changing needs of the automotive and wider mobility sectors.

Liz Lloyd, Government and Cyber Security Minister

Autotech Group’s commitment was also recognised by the Government and Cyber Security Minister Liz Lloyd added: “As one of the first to sign the Cyber Resilience Pledge, Autotech Group is sending a clear message to its customers, investors and supply chains that cyber resilience is a core part of how it does business. The cyber threat facing the UK is serious, growing, and evolving fast because of AI. These first signatories are showing how the whole country needs to respond, by taking practical and achievable steps to bolster their cyber defences and secure everyone’s growth and prosperity.”

As technology continues to reshape the automotive industry, Autotech Group remains committed to investing in the governance, quality and cyber resilience that enable customers, partners and stakeholders to work with confidence in an increasingly connected world.

The Government is encouraging organisations across the UK to join the Cyber Resilience Pledge and take practical steps to strengthen cyber resilience throughout the wider economy. More information is available on GOV.UK.
